But I’m feeling great lately and I have started to even play with my pack friends. My foster mom has started to call me Cindy-rella for little mouse. I love everyone especially Sean Casey cause he helped me live. Thanks everyone.”
UPDATE 6/30/11 – Cindy is being taken home by Christine from the hospital to nurse her back to health
UPDATE 6/22/11 – Cindy’s bloodwork came back with elevated white blood cells which indicates that there is infection in her little body but that her body is trying to fight the infection which is why they are elevated. Cindy will continue to stay at the hospital where she can receive the meds/fluids she needs so she can gain her strength and put on weight. All of her issues stem from being starved. Cindy has a long road ahead of her so please continue to share Cindy’s story.
A good friend of BSL News, Christine Drakatos, along with other dedicated rescuers, have rescued upwards of 100 dogs and cats from Far Rockaway, NY in the past year alone. Thanks to these loving individuals and Sean Casey of Sean Casey Animal Rescue in Brooklyn these animals were saved, vetted and adopted to loving homes.
Well this past Saturday at 2AM someone dumped an emaciated, sick female pit bull puppy outside of a bodega in a very bad section of Far Rockaway. The people who ran the bodega were feeding this baby bread until one of the local rescuers from Christine’s crew took her into their apartment at 3AM after being alerted to the situation. Yesterday morning Christine rushed to the puppy now named Cindy to bring her to an emergency vet where she is currently being treated under Sean Casey’s rescue. She is suffering from severe diarrhea and vomiting and is being evaluated as she has a multitude of issues at this time. Cindy is currently recieving fluids and medicine through IV lines at the animal hospital .
Cindy is in desperate need of funds to pay for her care. Can you please help? No donation is too small. Donations for Cindy’s medical care can be made through paypal at: nyanimalrescue@yahoo.com or mailed to: Sean Casey Animal Rescue 153 E 3rd Brooklyn, N.Y. 11218. You can visit their FB page here.
For those who are not familiar with this area, Far Rockaway is hell on earth for countless dogs and cats. Just a few weeks ago my husband and I went with Christine to help her and other dedicated rescuers in the area replenish the multiple feeding stations they have set up for the homeless dogs they care for, visit the junkyard dogs that they feed, and hang up anti-dogfighting posters throughout the many projects there as this is huge problem. Oh and rescue a kitten that someone had thrown out like trash!
Please take a moment to share this story and if you can donate – please help save Cindy. Thank you
