UPDATE: ACE WAS KILLED by the Detroit AC&C

Thank you to Penny Eims, Dog News Examiner for covering this heartbreaking story about an innocent animal named ACE. ACE, who happens to be a pit bull, faces death in Detroit due to ignorance and breedism, the canine equivalent to racism.

Detroit Animal Control does not have the best interest of the animals at heart. The city has issued a statement that “Detroit Animal Control does not adopt out or release pit bulls or pit bull mixes and will not release any dog unless proof of ownership can be established”. It doesn’t matter that Ace is not a dangerous dog – instead, all that matters is that he is a Pit bull. Harry Ward, one of the notoriosly evil individuals who head up Detroit Animal Control, as well as the city, sentence countless pit bulls to death because they unjustly judge based on a very loose appearance-based definition of breed, not on individual behavior.

After countless people have spoken up for Ace and have pleaded for his life, City Council President Charles Pugh requested that an exception be made for this highly sought after dog. Unfortunately, Loretta Davis and the Health Department are trumping the request of the City Council to spare Ace’s life and are ordering him to be killed anyway.

CALL TO ACTION: Contact the heartless Loretta Davis ldavis4@co.wayne.mi.us and let her know discrimination will not be tolerated and encourage her to act in the best interest of the animal for once. ALSO, contact the city council and the Mayor and demand that their policies regarding pit bulls be changed. Remember, if it wasn’t for their policies in the first place Ace wouldn’t be in this position.
