Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) is any law or ordinance that singles out specific breeds of dogs with restrictions or bans. Most notably in recent news are bans and restrictions placed on pit bull guardianship.
Breed Specific Legislation does not work. It is ineffective, costly, and punishes hundreds of thousands of dogs and their guardians for the actions of a few.
Speak up against BSL! Your dog could be next on the hitlist!

I live in an area that espouses BSL .I am passonate about the rights of all animals especially those who are denegrated because of a lack of knowledge.I am the proud guardian of 5 cats and 6 dogs one of which is “pittie”. he is a “lover” Please keep me posted as to what I can do to help.

I just saw on our local this morning news that a town in NC about 2 hours from me is trying to push a Pit bull ban. That Town is Dunn, North Carolina. The clip they used was a Pit on a chain and wonder why there are so many dog attacks! They aren’t talking educating owners and such. So if you can, take a look at this news story (happened in Tucson on 3/7/12) - while I am not advocating by any means that I dont feel any sympathy for this woman in this story, again the whole responsibility of this dog attack in on the dogs, not the owner. After his two dogs attacked this woman, he willingly gave them up to be euthanized. Really, when do we realize responsibility lies with the owner, not the dog. The dogs are paying with their lives, he just gets off by giving them up to be killed.

So I was just reading the atories and articles regarding cops killing, I just found this, they are horrible. Is there any way to contact these departments and voice our opinion, maybe if enough of us say something laws may change and there may be consequences for these people who abuse their power.

Thank you, some of these stories I do recognize and have responded to; the police departments sent me replies stating how these were constant complaints on these dogs - this I guess made these justified in their eyes.
Take a look at this story, so sad about a police who had to shoot a pit bull because he “feared for his life”. The news paints a horrible pic with it. Looking into it. the media is no better.

So there are some stories out there about owners of dangerous dogs facing jail times when their dogs attack, however, it is blatantly profiling with pics of these dangerous dogs being pit bull looking. It seems to be that these news stories are going on in the uk, let’s not hope profiling goes to this level.

Hi my name is Jennifer Christian and I am also a pit bull advocate I own a 5 year old pit bull who is the best dog iI have ever had the pleasure of owning my 4 year old son calls her his sweet baby girl! I also have a problem we had an incident here last night where “2 pitbull type” dogs got out of there kennel and mauled a woman and her dog. The polica have no idea what kind of dogs they were but i guess when in doubt blame a pitbull. I have a feeling that this will be the push officials need to ban the breed all together and i can’t let that happen. I have to help in some way. I could really use some advice about what i need to do to get started. I posted the story below:
